About Dalai Lama
The Dalai Lama, born Tenzin Gyatso on July 6, 1935, is the 14th Dalai Lama and the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism. He was recognized as the reincarnation of his predecessor at a young age and has since become a global symbol of peace, compassion, and nonviolent resistance, particularly in the context of the Tibetan struggle for autonomy from China. In 1989, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to advocate for human rights and promote dialogue and understanding.
