About Nicolas de Caritat, Marquis de Condorcet
Nicolas de Caritat, Marquis de Condorcet (1743-1794), was a prominent French philosopher, mathematician, and political activist known for his contributions to social and political theory during the Enlightenment. He is best known for his advocacy of rationalism, democracy, and women's rights, as well as for his work on the theory of voting and social choice. Condorcet's progressive ideas on education and social reform were influential during the French Revolution, and he became a victim of its turmoil, ultimately dying in hiding to escape persecution.
