About Epicurus
Epicurus (341–270 BCE) was an ancient Greek philosopher and the founder of Epicureanism, a philosophical school that emphasized the pursuit of happiness through the cultivation of friendships, the enjoyment of simple pleasures, and the avoidance of pain and fear. He advocated for a life of moderation, promoting the idea that understanding the nature of the world and the limits of human desire leads to true contentment. His teachings, preserved in the form of letters and principal doctrines, have had a lasting influence on Western thought and the philosophy of ethics.
