Saint Francis de Sales, born on August 21, 1567, in the Duchy of Savoy, was a prominent figure in the Catholic Church known for his remarkable contributions to spirituality and pastoral care. He was the first of thirteen children in a noble family and showed an early inclination towards a religious life. After completing his studies at the University of Padua, where he earned a law degree, Saint Francis de Sales felt a strong calling to the priesthood, eventually abandoning a promising career in law for his spiritual vocation.
Ordained as a priest in 1593, Saint Francis de Sales became a key figure in the Counter-Reformation, dedicated to re-evangelizing the regions of France that had succumbed to Protestantism.
